SPC Flooring Malaysia / Contractor & Developer Guide

SPC Supply Only or Supply and Install for a Malaysian Project?

SPC flooring supply only suits contractors who already have a qualified flooring installer and can manage floor preparation, fitting and finishing. SPC supply and install suits projects that want us to quote the flooring material and fitting together, with old-floor removal or subfloor levelling included where needed and agreed.

Neither option automatically covers every site activity. The named SPC model, required quantity, existing floor condition, levelling work, accessories and installation boundaries must still be specified.

The practical decision

Choose supply only when your appointed installer will manage preparation and installation. Choose supply and install when you want us to include SPC fitting within an agreed scope, with additional preparation work identified separately.

01 / Choosing the Work Scope

Choose Who Will Install the Named SPC Model

The main difference between SPC supply only and supply and install is who manages the fitting work. The decision should follow your project's existing trade arrangements and the level of installation scope you want included in our quotation.

We produce our published SPC flooring range at our Malaysia factory and can support supply-only or supply-and-install enquiries across West Malaysia, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang. The agreed scope depends on the project location, selected product and site requirements.

OPTION 01

SPC Supply Only

We supply the selected SPC flooring model, while your appointed flooring installer performs the fitting under your own arrangements.

  • Your project team appoints and coordinates the installer.
  • Your installer assesses and prepares the base.
  • Your team manages fitting, interfaces and finishing.
  • Material quantities and accessories are agreed with us when ordering.
OPTION 02

SPC Supply and Install

We quote the selected SPC flooring and fitting as part of an agreed installation job.

  • We include SPC fitting within the agreed installation scope.
  • Subfloor levelling can be included when needed and agreed.
  • Existing-floor removal can also be included when required and agreed.
  • Finishing accessories, exclusions and site arrangements should be confirmed in writing.
Important scope distinction

Supply and install does not automatically mean every preparation or finishing activity is included. Likewise, supply only does not determine contractual liability or warranty terms. The quotation and agreed project documents should clarify the applicable responsibilities and exclusions.

02 / Material Specification

Specify the Board and Quantity in Either Route

An SPC flooring order should identify the actual product, not simply state "SPC flooring". Your installer and purchasing team need a model-specific basis for selecting the finish, calculating boxes and coordinating floor levels and finishing details.

Our SPC flooring collection includes published 5mm, 6.5mm and Terrazzo series, with named product codes and different visual finishes. Confirm the selected model's specifications rather than assuming that all SPC products share the same thickness or packaging.

What to state in the material schedule

  • Product code and finish: identify the nominated model clearly.
  • Thickness and wear layer: record the model-specific values where published and confirm the supplied specification.
  • Net flooring area: provide the floor plan or area schedule in square metres.
  • Cutting and wastage allowance: account for the layout, room shapes and planned installation method.
  • Ordering basis: agree the total boxes or quantity, with availability confirmed for the actual order.
Selection of SPC flooring planks in different wood-effect finishes

Our SPC range includes different decorative finishes. Shortlisting a specific product code helps your installer coordinate the material choice with the project drawings and finishing schedule.

Model-Specific Example

6501 Bleached Oak: Check the Box Coverage

Our 6501 Bleached Oak SPC flooring is a useful example of why product codes matter. It has published dimensions and packaging information that can form the basis of a material calculation.

6501 Bleached Oak

Board Thickness 6.5mm
Wear Layer 0.3mm
Pieces per Box 8
Nominal Coverage โ‰ˆ 1.76mยฒ

Nominal box coverage is before cutting and wastage. These specifications apply to model 6501 and should not be assumed for other SPC models.

For example, a 100mยฒ net floor area would represent approximately 57 boxes of this model before any cutting allowance, based on 100 รท 1.76 and rounding up to whole boxes. The actual order must also consider cutting losses, room layout and any additional agreed allowance.

We can discuss the nominated SPC code and required quantity when you submit your project schedule. Stock availability and the supplied specification should be reconfirmed for each order.

03 / Existing Floor Condition

Decide Whether the Existing Floor Stays or Is Removed

SPC installation does not automatically include removal of old flooring. Whether the existing finish can remain depends on the floor condition, stability, levels and requirements of the selected SPC system.

A project involving existing tiles, damaged floor finishes, loose materials or uneven levels needs a clear assessment before the installation method is agreed. An overlay should not be assumed suitable simply because the new product is a rigid SPC plank.

Situation A

Existing Surface Is Suitable

If the current floor meets the selected SPC system's installation requirements, the project may be able to retain it. Suitability must be established rather than assumed.

Situation B

Existing Finish Must Be Removed

Loose, damaged or otherwise unsuitable finishes may need removal before the new floor is fitted. We can include removal in our SPC installation job where required and agreed.

Situation C

Additional Base Work Is Needed

Removal may expose an uneven or unsuitable base. Any subsequent levelling or remedial work should be identified as its own activity in the proposed scope.

What your site team should provide

Share photographs of the existing finish, note whether it is tiled or another material, identify visible defects and indicate the areas proposed for retention or removal. This makes it easier to discuss an appropriate work scope without assuming the floor is ready for fitting.

04 / Subfloor Preparation

Set Out Levelling and Substrate Work

Subfloor levelling is a separate scope decision, not something that should be assumed included in every SPC installation price.

An unsuitable or uneven base can affect how the SPC planks fit and how the finished floor performs. The project specification should identify whether preparation or levelling is required and who is responsible for completing it before the fitting begins.

Under a supply-only arrangement, your appointed installer or other contractor should assess and arrange the necessary preparation within your project arrangements.

Under supply and install, we can include subfloor levelling where needed and agreed. The quotation should name the preparation areas and establish the boundary between our work and any base work undertaken by another trade.

Do not leave the base condition undefined

A floor plan shows the area, but it does not confirm subfloor suitability. Provide site photographs, known defects and relevant floor-level information so the required preparation can be discussed.

Define the Preparation Boundary

01

Identify the Base

Record the existing substrate, finish, known defects and areas requiring attention.

02

Determine Required Work

Clarify whether removal, levelling or other preparation is necessary for the selected SPC system.

03

Assign the Work

Specify whether your appointed contractor or our agreed installation scope will cover each activity.

04

Confirm the Handover

Agree when the prepared floor will be ready for fitting and how outstanding site issues will be handled.

05 / Finishing Details

Include the Edges and Interfaces

SPC planks are only one part of the completed floor. Skirting, thresholds, transitions and edge profiles should be identified in both the material quotation and installation scope.

These details are easy to overlook when material and labour are quoted separately. Missing or mismatched finishing items can require further coordination even when the main flooring quantity is correct.

Our SPC flooring range lists skirting together with L-, A-, U- and T-Profile accessory categories. The selected profile type, compatibility, finish, quantity and availability must be confirmed for the nominated SPC model and site details.

Skirting Wall and floor edges
L-Profile Selected edge details
A-Profile Profile selection by detail
U-Profile Selected perimeter interfaces
T-Profile Selected floor transitions

These are accessory categories, not confirmation that every profile or colour is suitable or available for every SPC product. The final selection should follow the actual interface details.

For Supply-Only Projects

Ask your installer to prepare an accessory schedule covering wall perimeters, doorways, changes of floor finish and any other exposed edges. Include the required accessories in your material enquiry where applicable.

For Supply-and-Install Projects

Identify the finishing areas you want included in our quotation. State any skirting, threshold or transition requirements clearly so they can be considered within the agreed installation scope.

06 / Scope Comparison

Compare the Two Scopes on Equal Terms

A fair comparison should cover the same nominated SPC model, measured flooring area, preparation requirements and finishing details. The difference is which activities are assigned to your own project team and which are included in our agreed work.

Use this table to prepare and compare quotations for SPC flooring projects in Malaysia. It explains the scope questions to resolve rather than assuming particular tasks are automatically included.

Scope Item Supply Only Supply and Install
Named SPC Material We supply the selected SPC model confirmed in the material order. We quote the selected SPC model together with the agreed fitting work.
Quantity and Wastage Your project team and installer establish the quantity and cutting allowance for ordering. The material quantity and allowance should be agreed using the project layout and installation scope.
Base Preparation Managed by your appointed installer or other contractor. Any preparation within our work must be expressly defined and agreed.
Existing-Floor Removal Arranged by your project team if required. Can be included when needed and agreed; not automatic.
Subfloor Levelling Arranged by your appointed trades when necessary. Can be included when needed and agreed, with the preparation area specified.
SPC Installation Performed by your own flooring installer. SPC fitting is included within our agreed installation job.
Skirting and Transitions Specify required material quantities; installation is arranged by your team. Confirm accessory supply and fitting inclusions for each relevant interface.
Delivery and Site Access Confirm delivery arrangements and material receiving requirements in the quotation. Confirm delivery, site access, working areas and fitting arrangements for the agreed job.
Project Documents Confirm the required product details, material schedule and any applicable project documentation. Confirm material details, installation scope, exclusions and any project-specific documents required.
How to compare two quotations correctly

Do not compare a supply-only material total directly against a supply-and-install total without checking the missing labour and preparation items. A meaningful comparison uses the same product code and quantity basis, then identifies the scope and exclusions associated with each route.

07 / Project Enquiry Checklist

What Should You Provide for an SPC Flooring Quotation?

The most useful SPC flooring quotation starts with a clear product choice and an accurate description of the required work. This helps distinguish material supply from fitting, levelling, removal and finishing.

01

Project Location

Tell us whether the project is in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang or another West Malaysia location. Provide the site address or locality for quotation planning.

02

Floor Plan or Area Schedule

Send the net flooring areas, room dimensions where available and any relevant layout drawings.

03

Preferred SPC Model

Include your shortlisted series, product code and finish. If you are still selecting a product, share your intended appearance and project requirements.

04

Existing-Floor Photographs

Show the current floor finish, visible damage, uneven areas and important doorway or transition details.

05

Preferred Installation Arrangement

State whether your own installer will fit the SPC or you want us to quote fitting. Mention any expected removal, levelling and accessory work.

06

Site and Documentation Requirements

Share your expected work sequence, access restrictions and any relevant project documentation requirements so these can be discussed before the scope is agreed.

We manufacture our published SPC flooring range in Malaysia and support project enquiries for both material supply and agreed installation work. A clearly nominated product and installation scope help us discuss the quotation against your actual project requirements.

Before accepting the quotation

Confirm the nominated model, supplied quantity, preparation work, fitting areas, accessories, delivery arrangements, exclusions and any required project documents. Lead time, availability and other order-specific terms should also be established for the particular enquiry.

08 / Frequently Asked Questions

SPC Flooring Supply and Installation FAQs

Can we buy Enoch SPC flooring and use our own installer?

Yes. We offer SPC flooring on a supply-only basis. Your appointed installer manages fitting and site preparation under your own project arrangements. Confirm the selected model, quantities and required accessories when ordering.

Does SPC supply and install include floor levelling?

Not automatically. We can include subfloor levelling in an SPC installation job when it is needed and agreed. The quotation should identify the relevant preparation work and areas.

Can old tiles or existing flooring remain under SPC?

That depends on the existing floor's condition, stability, levels and the selected SPC system. An overlay is not suitable in every situation. Removal can be included in our installation scope when needed and agreed.

Are skirting and transition profiles included in SPC installation?

Inclusion depends on the agreed quotation. We list skirting and L-, A-, U- and T-Profile accessory categories, but compatibility, supply and fitting must be specified for the actual project.

Can contractors request SPC supply and install in Johor, Penang, KL or Selangor?

Yes. We support supply-only and supply-and-install enquiries across West Malaysia, including Johor, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Share the site location and work details so we can discuss the relevant scope.

In summary, supply only is a practical route when your contractor already controls installation and floor preparation. Supply and install is suitable when you want us to quote the selected SPC flooring together with fitting and any additional agreed preparation work. In both cases, a named model, accurate quantities and clearly defined responsibilities are the basis of a useful project quotation.
